Online Community?

Lately I’ve been thinking that OmegaTurtle could do with an online gaming community. There are a few rag-tag “clans” and “groups” on various games and gaming medias using our name (e.g. oMTu Xbox LIVE clan, OmegaTurtle WoW Guild and OmegaTurtle steam group) but there is no official organization of these  ”groups”.

Here’s my proposal to our readers,

Comment on this post with the games you play, the services you use and weather or not you would like an OmegaTurtle Group.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon on the site (check the pages)

The game so far… Assassins creed

I should say the series so far, but I just feel I need to discuss my quest of late. I bought Assassins creed Revelations and thought that Brotherhood had nothing to do with the storyline, for some reason Brotherhood never came to mind.

So Brotherhood obviously sets off after Assassins creed 2, I’ll make sure not to spoil anything. After playing the few first sequences ofRevelations, Brotherhood seems like a stream line. A development for the third project. It just seems like this game was more of a ‘Hey we have awesome ideas, lets put them in Brotherhood alongside a bunch of side missions that don’t really mean anything’. Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay is still amazing, the new ideas are great, but nothing ties into anything. All this game is about is sorting out the creed, which involves saving civilians who have been wrong by templars and telling them that the “Revolution has begun” for 9 sequences. At the end, there are a few things that happen which I won’t spoil, but other then that it’s just random missions and recruiting, and also the end of the game isn’t even that good anyway.

When this game finished, All I did was turn around in my computer chair and think “Ok”. Usually in games like this I think OMG IF ONLY I KNEW or OMG THAT BASTARD CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. But no, it’s just a moderate ending, and a moderate game. But once again, don’t get me wrong, it’s fun, it’s always been fun to jump across roofs and assassinate people but there’s just not much here.

Revelations is actually quite fun, Ezio is looking for keys to Altairs library, but Brotherhood…I wouldn’t say it’s a dissapointment but it’s just not as good as it should have been.

It’s 6/10 for me.

I’ll be putting up a review for Revelations once I’m finished :)

Infinity Blade

I got an iPad. Yes an iPad. People say they’re worthless, but I digress. See I used to think they were useless but having for 3 days I’m actually seeing a lot of usage in it. First thing I wanted to do when I got this was pay six dollars for a awesome looking little game called Infinity Blade.

Now Infinity Blade is something like a year and a half old and already has a sequel, but I don’t care I’m doing this review anyway.
This game always appealed to me it’s just I’ve never had the time or the software (Being with android and all) to get it. But already I’m finding it’s absolutely brilliant.
The game sets off in some random fantasy world, where you see “your fathers” death by the hands of someone wielding, you guessed it, the Infinity Blade. After this you are thrown into the son of the man you’ve just witnessed die saying he will avenge his death. This is where it gets kinda cool, because the game has very decent graphics especially for an iOS device but yet it’s so simplistic that it all just works really well.

You’ll progress through enemy after enemy leveling up until you reach the Infinity Blade man (He doesn’t really have a name) and trust me, the first time you face him, you’ll die. That’s just how it is, and here’s the kicker. When you get killed by the Infinity Blade man, the next generation takes over and tries to avenge your death, these are called “Bloodlines”. You’ll keep all your gear and your level, and keep going in a circle as you’re cut down by this guy that’s killed almost all your family members that have been so dedicated to taking this guy down.

Now I haven’t finished the game yet, but I’m assuming you’ll level up until you’re tough enough to defeat him and finally end game will come and you’ll take the guy down. I really like the idea, because it’s so simplistic and so repetitive and yet it doesn’t get old. I’m about half way in I’d say and I’m still never bored of it, I think this is mainly because of the combat, you’ll stay in one spot and slice at your opponent by swiping on the touch screen, you also have special abilities which are just so addicting to use.

I think this is really worth the six dollars, I know it seems a bit much but the graphics, gameplay and simplicity of it all just makes it so worth it, even more so then Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja. It’s 9/10 for me.

Dead Rising – Dead Boring Photography

Dead RisingI know it’s old, being that it was realised back in 2006 exclusively for the Xbox360 console, and the newly released sequel kicks its ass, but I have finally gotten my hands on a copy to review. If you like zombie games, mainly hack and slash action, this game should suit you. The play character is Frank West, a photojournalist who sneaks himself into the town of Willamatte, Colorado to investigate rumours of suspicious activity.

His career as a photojournalist is encorporated into the game, allowing you to take photographs in order to achieve photo points and I will not lie to you, this particular aspect of the game annoys the shit out of me. Frank is trapped in the shopping mall, and the major win of this game is there is at least 250 different weapons to be found and used. So far, my favourite is simple and practical, the Hunting Knife. More often than not, one stab kills. Other weapons include, guitars, police batons, tasers, chairs, golf clubs and handguns. The list goes on.

Weapons do eventually break down, so it definately wise to have more than one on you at a time. The main objective of the game is to investigate the mall and complete the “Case File” missions to eventually reveal the cause of the outbreak and play the story through. If you don’t feel like following the orders and completing the quests, the game can be alternatively played as a ‘sandbox’ or free-roaming game. Basically, ignore all the quests and tear shit up. Rip off some limbs, try on some novelty masks and make your death count soar baby!

Though this game is highly acclaimed, CAPCOM has insisted on having the photography as a key element in the game, which doesn’t work out to its advantage.

I rate this game 2.5/5
